Dallas

7th March, two shows.

It was a rainy day, as forecast. The crew had just opened the trucks to start the get-in when the heavens opened and they all got completely drenched! We stayed in bed as soundcheck was not until 11.30 followed by lunch at 12.00. Not enough time to go far before the show but Dallas did not look appealing anyway. I had expected it to be glitzy and glamorous but what we saw was grey and a bit tired. I expect the weather didn’t help. There are some very tall buildings though!

The shows were at 2.00 and 5.00 so there was just time to walk down to the JFK memorial in the gap. This is surprisingly low key and rather brutal in design. Then we got soaked on the way back!

In the evening a group of us set off in Ubers to a Texan Cowboy dance hall. We thought it was going to be line dancing, but it was couples which was disappointing. The young girls all danced though with local chaps who spun them round and tipped them backwards – they had great fun. It was good to watch and it was quite a good stetson count!!
