Toronto, Canada

Saturday 21st March

What a brilliant day! We had a show at 2.00 with a sound check at 11.30, so we got up early and went out. We headed to the port and got a ferry across to Ward’s Island for the view of the Toronto skyline. We bumped into some of the others there too. Well worth it for the view, and we saw long-tailed ducks too! It was cloudy unfortunately but we had clear views.

Next we walked to the CN Tower and then tried to find Rebecca’s (Graham’s daughter’s) office, although without success.

We had a quick dash out to the Lawrence Market after the soundcheck too. Very colourful, it reminded us of Granville Island market in Vancouver.

The show was fantastic today. The Meridian Theatre is a large venue and was sold out – 3,172 seats! There was a big cheer as soon as the house lights went down and then even more when Mummy Pig walked onto stage! They were a great audience throughout. Quite a buzz!

Afterwards we had a quick get-out as six of us had booked bus tickets to Niagara Falls. It was over a two hour journey there but was worth it! We seem to be collecting waterfalls this year after our trip to Iceland where we saw two huge falls. This is something else though. We could hear the roar from the parking lot area, a 5 minute shuttle bus ride away. When we got off the shuttle, we could feel the spray in the air and when we got to the first viewing point it was like horizontal rain, we were soaked in seconds! It was cold enough to start with (about 3 degrees!) Graham and I hurriedly moved on further along the river to get a better view back at the horseshoe falls, out of the spray. A fabulous sight! There is a second set of falls further down where lots of ice had built up. There were lots of ring-billed gulls too, very tame.

Back at the bus about 9.30 and we all started watching a new Apple TV series.

Toronto is a beautiful city, with great architecture old and new. We would happily spend more time here!
