Richmond, Kentucky

Monday 23rd March – Day off

Usual out of town site. Graham wasn’t well so I sat in the lobby catching up with things while he slept. Later I walked over to the shopping area, which wasn’t very fruitful, and met with some of the others for the weekly bus shop, at Meijer’s this time – my least favourite supermarket! We are playing in Richmond tomorrow so didn’t feel the need to dash off exploring today.

In the evening, Graham felt a bit better so we walked to a steak bar on the same site, which was really good. Very American atmosphere with a big central bar with stools around it and several TVs showing different sports.

Tuesday 24th March

A very short bus drive to the theatre in the morning then we were free until 3.30 soundcheck for a 6pm show.

Richmond has a lovely old fashioned Main Street with quite a few vintage shops. We had a nice 30 minute walk past some lovely buildings and walked back through the University grounds (Eastern Kentucky University). Lots of us ended up in the same coffee place which had delicious coffee – a rarity!

The venue was EKU Center for the Arts, another University facility. It was a smaller audience today and they were scattered about the auditorium which makes it more difficult, but it was still a good show.

There are lots of blossom trees everywhere we go, in varying stages of flowering which is lovely. After the show they had the finale of “Traitors” which we all watched. Rob arranged the theme tune for us all to play at the beginning which went down well. Evie (our presenter) was “Claudia Winkelwoman” and did her make-up and hair to match! We had an order of KFC delivered to the buses afterwards! Well, we had to, didn’t we as we were in Kentucky! There was an intense sunset too.
