Monday 30th March
Up and off reasonably early to go back into New York. We went with Lynda and Rachael to get a ferry over from near Ellis Island to near Ground Zero. They went off to visit that and the 911 museum, and we walked along the embankment towards Battery Park, then through Greenwich Village, both of which were new for us. It was another glorious sunny day and we ended up carrying our coats all day.

We went to Chelsea Market which was great! We bought quite a bit in Muji!!!

Then went for lunch at the Gramercy Tavern where we had been, on Rebecca’s recommendation, for Graham’s 60th birthday on our last visit. We ate in the Tavern part rather than the Restaurant this time and it had a lovely atmosphere. We shared a shellfish platter starter, then Graham had monkfish and I had beef carpaccio. Delicious and a very stylish place.

Next we walked up past the Empire State Building, Times Square and 5th Avenue and popped into St Patrick’s Cathedral.

On into Central Park for a while and then back down 7th Avenue towards Penn, past Carnegie Hall, and Times Square again, now all lit up. We stopped for a drink in a lovely bar before getting the train back to Newark. Back at the hotel about 10pm again.

28,000 steps! Another brilliant day. So lucky to have such fabulous weather.
