Albuquerque, New Mexico

Tuesday 3rd March

As I always wake up a few times in the night, this time I got up to look at the Red Moon at 4.30. It was high in the sky so rather small, but definitely red!

Then, today’s first outing was to the Apple Store!!! We have been gradually dropping like flies and succumbing to the delights of Apple as the prices are the same or less in Dollars as they are in Pounds at home. Three or four of us have bought phones and iPads now. One of the main draws for us is the improved camera, especially as Graham didn’t bring his SLR. We were in there for two hours getting it all sorted.

Then back to the bus and a quick foray into the theatre before heading onto the old town. Soundcheck is not until 4.00 today for a 6.30 show. There are free buses which were quite efficient. The centre is quite touristy but quaint and very colourful, especially with these fabulous blue skies we keep having. We are on Route 66 too so there were plenty of souvenirs about that too. I bought a t-shirt to wear the next time we see Joe Root playing cricket! (His shirt number is 66!)

Today’s venue was another University, Popejoy Hall at University of New Mexico. A wide auditorium but a shallow stage. Good house today and they were responsive, too. We had some notes today to freshen up the show, musical ones from me and stage ones from Evie, the narrator. It did liven things up again so was worthwhile.

We are still at 5,000ft and lots of us are suffering from mild nosebleeds and dry skin. Off to Texas tomorrow and two days off with temperatures in the high 20s!

Did you know that Route 66 is 100 years old this year? There will be a

celebration of it in June in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cindy
