Interlochen, Michigan

Wednesday 18th March

Proper snow at last, about 18 inches deep! It was a bumpy drive through snow (not that I noticed) last night too. One show today at Interlochen Center for the Arts, a lovely campus again, known for its Summer Schools!!! Not needed until 3.30 for soundcheck for a 6pm show, so we went for a walk. First to a shop and cafe on campus, hoping for coffee, but the cafe didn’t open until later. Stickers were bought though! Then we went to the State Park to see the lake, which was frozen and covered in snow. Quite beautiful. We had to fight our way through the deep snow for the last bit, which was very silly!

We saw some little black squirrels which were very sweet, but no new birds. We bumped into some other friends and walked to the lake on the other side of the campus (Interlochen…!) which had slightly easier access and was even larger.

The concert was lovely today. We thought the audience seemed rather small, but it did fill up a bit at the last minute. Not one of our larger audiences though, but they were really responsive which made it a great show.

There was a Traitors gathering in the evening so we had a quiet bus! It is an early departure at 10pm tonight and only a short drive to our next venue so people will have a stationary bus from about 11.30 for a good night’s sleep!
