Red Bank, New Jersey

Wednesday 1st April – Count Basie Theater

We are zig-zagging backwards and forwards at the moment – back in New Jersey today and heading North again tomorrow. This is a lovely place with some beautiful houses with private water fronts. It is difficult to get to the water as the shore line is mostly privately owned, which was quite frustrating. We had breakfast out again with real eggs on toast! Little pleasures! We headed to a “Nature park” which turned out to be a small playground by the river, but we did see some birds.

Another 6.00 show in the Count Basie Theater – he was born here. The stalls were full and the middle of the balcony too, and it was an enthusiastic audience! Huge roar at the beginning again, and they joined in with the singing and gave huge applause at several points through the show.
