Tuesday 14th April

Another middle of nowhere stopover, so we didn’t do much in the morning. We are all panicking now about the amount of stuff we have all bought, which won’t fit into our suitcases! We have been looking out for somewhere to buy cases, but an Uber to the nearest Walmart here was quite expensive. I asked if there would be a bus shop today and if so could we go to Walmart (Lion Foods was nearer but only has food) and, bingo, one of the coaches took us over there. Suitcases were duly bought, and now the next problem is, will they all fit in the luggage compartment beneath the bus?! I expect we will manage somehow!

We re-packed, with all the bulky winter things going into the new case which was shoved to the far depths of the hold. We should have high temperatures for the remainder of our trip, fingers crossed!

Mission having been accomplished, we went for a walk with the binoculars, along a busy main road to begin with as usual, then a smaller side road with some charming country houses, on our way to dinner. We were rewarded with, finally, a fabulous view of three male American Goldfinches! Hooray! They had been coming up on the Merlin app for weeks but we had never seen one before, apart from a dull female once. They are stunning, bright yellow birds.

Dinner at Cracker Barrel again. We heard a frog chorus on our way back to the bus for a 12.00 departure.
