Wednesday 22nd April
Day off again with day rooms in a hotel, as usual a long way out of town. We decided to walk into the old town, which meant walking along a main road again. We were getting a bit hot and fed up when we reached the prosperous suburbs and saw some beautiful houses with wraparound verandas (and Canada goslings!)

The old Main Street was similar to others we have seen and quite charming.

After a coffee, we got an Uber to a restaurant near our hotel which specialises in seafood. Meals always come with a choice of sides and often include “hush puppies” – a cornmeal puff. A bit like a doughnut or beignet. We usually end up with far too much food. It is difficult to avoid everything deep fried too, and served with fries! Then back to the hotel.
We had our wrap party tonight as it is another day off tomorrow. Jackson had done a booze shop which was incredible! He got a huge bottle (1.75 litres!) of Hendricks gin for us. We will have to work hard at getting through that before we leave! I expect we will have some help! We had a quiz, devised by Rob, featuring rounds including “guess the venue” from photographs (very difficult to remember!), “who said that?” – quotes from all of us, and “who is this” from very pixelated photographs. Good fun!
Then we had awards for silly things! Graham got “best one-liner” and I got “fashionista” largely because of the mad dungarees I bought in Newberry, which everyone loved! All great fun, if a little sad as it reminds us that it is all coming to an end!
